PORTOBELLO ROAD:

It is the largest antiques market of the world, with 1500 dealers selling every kind of antique and collectable. Portobello is famous for his art objects but it sells other merchandise too: new and traditional clothes, furniture, radios, watches, jewellery, shoes and  ethnic goods.

The South end of the street is mainly antiques, the middle is vegetables and the end bric-a-brac. Among so much colourful, unusual merchandise, you can find excellent bargains.

 

 

The shops and stalls of Portobello Road offer an extraordinary variety of goods ranging in price from a few pounds to several thousands. Visitors come from all over the world because they know that in Portobello Road they will find the most extensive selection of antiques in Britain.

Market days start gradually from around 5.30 a.m. with trading between dealers from the UK and the overseas.

A lot of stall holders arrive at 8.oo a.m. and the market is in full swing for the rest of the day, with collectors and tourists from all over the world. It is open Fridays and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

 

 

Portobello Road is 3 km west of Marble Arch and it is easy to reach by road or underground from anywhere in London.
